Ask about your cat or dog — any time, day or night

Pets Booking AI answers everyday questions from UK cat and dog owners: behaviour (like yowling at night or hiding), eating problems, vaccinations, and when a symptom needs a vet. It can also search our directory to help you find a vet. It's free, needs no sign-up and is available 24/7. It gives general information only and is not a substitute for a registered vet.

Why is my cat yowling at night?

Common reasons include boredom or attention-seeking, hunger, being in heat (unneutered cats), stress or changes at home, and — especially in older cats — pain, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure or age-related confusion. New, sudden or escalating night-time yowling, particularly in a cat over 10, is worth a vet check.

My cat isn't eating — when should I worry?

Cats shouldn't go without food for long. If your cat hasn't eaten for 24 hours, or is also vomiting, hiding, lethargic or straining in the litter tray, contact a vet promptly.

What counts as a pet emergency?

Breathing difficulty, collapse, seizures, heavy bleeding, suspected poisoning, a swollen hard belly in dogs, or a male cat straining without passing urine. Call your vet or an out-of-hours emergency vet straight away.
